The APT Hub for Mental Health Professionals' Development
'Online anytime training' from The Association for Psychological Therapies (APT) means you can obtain APT-quality input at a time that is convenient to you. And if you are a manager ordering for your team, you are covered by the Association's guarantee: for attendees who don’t complete for whatever reason, you can transfer the training to other staff members. Training from the APT is trusted by the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, and globally.
The format of APT online training is as follows:
For 1-hour CPD courses: An audio lasting 15-30 minutes, plus resources and exercise(s) to complete. You can listen to the audio anywhere: on your desktop or smart device.
For 3-hour courses and longer: PowerPoint-type presentations, with audio narration, exercises, videos (usually), and post-course resources (usually). Built in entitlement to sit an exam at the end of the course is included in the price.
Benefits of the APT’s online training include:
-
One year access to the course materials.
-
Start anytime, and access the training whenever is best for you.
-
Exercises that help you assimilate the material and relate it to your own work.
-
Narration that adds observations and depth to the material.
-
Resources which you can use on the course and download subsequently for use in your own practice for the period of your accreditation (renewable).
-
An exam to test your knowledge and give you Level 2 APT-accreditation in the subject. (3-hour courses and longer.)
-
A downloadable certificate when you complete the course or pass the exam. (You can resit if you don’t pass first time.)
Managers: only pay for courses your team members complete.
If you are a manager buying courses for your team you can order with complete peace of mind. Attendees have access to the online course for 3 years, so they can revisit it if they wish, and can sit the included online exam free of charge if they want, to upgrade their accreditation. For attendees who don’t complete for whatever reason, you can transfer the training to other staff members (valid for up to 3 years from the date the training was assigned).
We think this is a breakthrough in distance learning. The online courses are engaging and relevant (“… I honestly think it is one of the best learning experiences I have had - very motivating." wrote one recent delegate.) But of course some people don’t take to distance learning for whatever reason, so why should an organisation pay for those places? Well now you don’t have to!
FAQs
Can I make a group booking, or purchase for a colleague?
Yes, add the course titles you would like your people to complete and proceed to your cart. Sign-in or create an account, and you will see the 'bulk purchase' option where you can add multiple (or single) users.
Can I be invoiced for the training:
Yes, if you would like to be invoiced please email finance@apt.ac stating; the course title, how many places you require, your organisation's purchase order number, and the name and address for the invoice to be sent to.
Who do I contact if I have any technical issues?
Contact us at e-learning@apt.ac, or submit a form submission at https://www.apt.ac/
How long do I get to complete the course?
You will have access to the course for 1 year, from the date you buy it. If there are any associated free resources with the course, you will have access to those for as long as you maintain your APT-Accreditation (which is 3 years in the first instance).
When can I start the course?
You can start straightaway or at anytime and work at your own pace.
Once I have successfully completed the course, am I still able to access the content?
Yes, if there is something you would like to go back to, you are able to re-access the course for 1 year from the date you purchased it.
Can I print-off the slides?
The 1-hour modules include a transcript of the talk which you can print out if you wish. The longer, slide-based courses don’t have a print-out option.
Do APT courses entitle me to practise?
It is your professional qualification that entitles you to practice and part of your professional responsibility is to keep up to date with relevant interventions such as DBT, CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc. and that is where the APT courses come in: they are regarded as 'post-qualification training'.
If I attend the CBT Essentials course (for example) can I use CBT with the patients I see?
Yes, this is why people attend APT courses. Having attended a course you are expected to use your professional judgement in applying what you have learned.
Are APT courses accredited?
Yes, all of our courses are accredited by the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT). This is given weight by the fact that over 100,000 professionals have attended APT courses. APT accreditation signifies that relevant information is presented in an engaging way, and every course is assessed on these two criteria, with the evaluation returned to the course-sponsor. The two scales (relevance and presentation quality) were obtained by factor-analysing what were previously 17 separate feedback ratings and finding that they all correlated with one or the other of the two crucial dimensions, which seemed to be 'relevance' and 'presentation quality'. If you are interested in whether a course is accredited/recognised by a specific other organisation then you need to ask that organisation. As a matter of policy APT does not seek accreditation from, and can’t speak for, any other body.
